About Rutera

Built by a driver, for drivers.

Hi, I'm Esat Yilmaz. I'm a full-time gig driver in Dallas, Texas, and I built Rutera because I needed a clearer way to understand my real driving numbers.

My story

I drive with platforms like Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Grubhub, and Roadie. I have completed over 10,000 trips and I still drive almost every day, often 10 to 12 hours a day, covering about 90,000 miles a year.

My first year driving, I did not track my mileage properly. I ended up paying $10,000 in taxes because I could not prove my business miles. That was my wake-up call.

After that, I started tracking everything. But the apps on the market felt expensive, unreliable, or incomplete. I had to use separate tools for offer analysis, mileage tracking, and expense tracking. Some crashed mid-trip, some showed confusing information, and none of them gave me a simple picture of whether I was actually making money.

So I built Rutera. No team, no investors. Just me. I drive during the day and develop at night. Every feature in this app exists because I needed it myself.

What Rutera does

Offer AnalysisRutera reads your Uber, Lyft, and DoorDash offer screens automatically. No tapping, no switching apps. It shows the real dollar-per-mile and dollar-per-hour estimate, including pickup time and distance. Green means the offer meets your minimums. Red means skip it.
GPS Mileage TrackingOne tap starts tracking. Rutera tracks miles in the background, separates work miles from personal miles, and generates IRS-style PDF mileage reports with date, time, distance, and start/end addresses.
Expense TrackingEnter your real vehicle costs: gas, insurance, maintenance, car payment, and other expenses. Rutera calculates your true cost per mile so you can see which offers actually make money and which ones only feel like they do.

Not just for gig drivers

Rutera is built for gig drivers, but it can help anyone who uses a vehicle for work: realtors, sales reps, couriers, contractors, self-employed workers, and anyone who needs to keep a clear mileage log.

Privacy matters

Your driving data is personal. Rutera is designed to keep your core driving records on your phone. Rutera does not store your trips, earnings, mileage logs, or location history on Rutera servers. No account is required, no sign-up is required, and your driving records are not uploaded to a Rutera cloud account. Some device or platform services, such as address lookup, may be used only when needed for app functionality.

I built it this way because I would not want to use an app that sends my driving data to some company’s server. I figured other drivers would feel the same way.

Price and availability

Rutera is $5.99/month with a 7-day free trial. It is available on Android now. iOS is coming soon.
